Sweet November

Hello! November is almost over...  what an amazing month. I've turned 26, enjoyed Thanksgiving, and started decorating for Christmas. I've certainly taken advantage of a few days off from work and enjoyed these days with friends and family. I hope you have too!

CURRENTLY LOVING:

1. The Holidays! It really is the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas is just around the corner and we've just wrapped up Thanksgiving, which is always one of my favorite days. Food, family, football... you can't go wrong. I think I'm still full. We had a wonderful day! Went to the in-laws house first then to my parents house. What a blessing it is to have our entire family in the same town. My precious dog Charlie is below. I think he's the perfect accessory to the dining room, do you agree?

Oh how I love Christmas. In a few short weeks it will be here. Putting our lights up today and sending out Christmas cards this week!

Here's our humble little Christmas tree :)

2. Thanksgiving Pumpkin Soup. This soup is so delicious and pretty easy to make. The picture doesn't do it justice, but it's the only one I had when I made it for hubby & me last month. Both my mother-in-law and mom served this soup at Thanksgiving this year in demitasse cups, like the one below. Love it!

1 stick butter                                                4 cups canned pumpkin puree
1 cup chopped onion                                   8 cups chicken stock (Swanson's)
2 garlic gloves                                             2 bay leafs
2 pinches of sugar                                       2 pinches nutmeg
2/3 tsp curry                                                1 tsp salt
4 cups light cream (whipping cream)          1/2 tsp pepper

Melt butter, add onion and garlic, saute until transparent. Add pumpkin puree, stock and stir to mix well. Add all the rest EXCEPT whipping cream. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 30 min. Remove from heat. Add cream, heat and warm soup - careful not to curdle. If soup is too thin, add 1/4 cup water and flour or cornstarch to thicken. Serve immediately. Serves 12. Enjoy!

3. Friends. They've been playing Friends re-runs every day, and I have to tell you...as many times as I've seen almost every episode, I still laugh.  This show is SO funny to me. I've posted a clip to make you laugh, it's Monica and Ross doing their "routine."

Here's the clip:

4. The WARM Place. I love my job. For those that don't know I work for The WARM Place, A Grief Support Center for Children who have lost a loved one. I'm in charge of Special Events and fundraising. We have a great special event coming up! It's called A Phone Call from Santa. Basically, for two nights (Dec 13 and Dec 14) we have volunteer guys make calls to kids all over the US and pretend to be Santa Claus. Parents fill out a form on our website www.thewarmplace.org and give The WARM Place $20 per form.... all the money raised goes to WARM Place, which helps grieving children get the services they need, free of charge for them. It's an amazing place to work and I'm so blessed. If you know any guys that want to play Santa or if you know any parents that want their children to receive calls this Christmas from "Santa," please visit our website!

5. Thankfulness. Today's devo from "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young:

Let thankfulness rule in your heart. As you thank Me for blessings in your life, a marvelous thing happens. It is as if scales fall off your eyes, enabling you to see more and more of My glorious riches. With your eyes thus opened, you can help yourself to whatever you need from My treasure house. Each time you receive one of My golden gifts, let your thankfulness sing our praises to My Name. "Hallelujahs" are the language of heaven, and they can become the language of your heart. Enjoy abundant life by overflowing with praise and thankfulness.

What an amazing thought: to be thankful each and every day. I hope you've enjoyed this post and remember to be thankful for the blessings in your life and the One who gives you those beautiful blessings.

xoxo
